Executive summary

An integrated high-capacity dosing system for sulphide treatment of seawater used to flood the 42" MJTNG-1 pipeline, processing 50,000 m³ at 1,000 m³/hr with a full on-site laboratory for continuous sulphide monitoring throughout the flooding procedure.

FK & Partner Co. and Water Technology Company (W-Tech) supplied an integrated sulfide-scavenger dosing system with activated-carbon odour control, processing 50,000 m³ at 1,000 m³/hr, and ran a full-scale laboratory to monitor sulfide levels during the flooding procedure.

The challenge

A larger 42-inch line flood needs sulfide dosing at double the flow of phase 1, with continuous verification that levels stay controlled throughout the operation.

Engineering approach

A treatment train sequenced to the contaminants.

Dosing Pumps → Sulfide Scavenger → Chemical Injection → Activated Carbon

Dosing pumps inject sulfide scavenger into the seawater stream; activated carbon controls odour; and a full-scale on-site laboratory verifies sulfide levels in real time throughout the flooding procedure.

On-site lab: real-time sulfide monitoring de-risks a time-critical pipeline operation.
