WWT Plant O&M — Khursaniyah Gas Plant (KGP)

Two and a half years operating and maintaining an MBR-based oily-water and sanitary treatment plant at Khursaniyah Gas Plant, holding effluent to Saudi Aramco SAES-104 irrigation standard.

Project type
Long-term O&M contract
Executive summary

A multi-year O&M contract (2015–2017) operating the KGP wastewater facility, treating both oily and sanitary wastewater via MBR with effluent meeting Saudi Aramco SAES-104 irrigation-water specifications, including monitoring and maintenance.

FK & Partner Co. ran the facility under an O&M contract from February 2015 to July 2017, treating both oily process water and sanitary wastewater (233 CMD) and monitoring effluent against SAES-104. Water Technology Company (W-Tech) was the technical partner and IE-Consult the consultant.

The challenge

A live gas plant produces both oily process water and sanitary sewage that must be treated continuously to a strict irrigation-reuse standard — with no room for downtime on an operating Aramco facility.

Site & process constraints
  • Effluent must meet SAES-104 irrigation specs
  • Continuous operation — no treatment interruption
  • Two streams: oily process water + sanitary
Engineering approach

A treatment train sequenced to the contaminants.

Oily Water Treatment → Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) → SAES-104 Irrigation Standard

FK & Partner Co. provided full operation, preventive maintenance, and laboratory monitoring of the existing MBR plant, keeping the membrane bioreactor and oily-water units within spec and documenting effluent quality against SAES-104 throughout the contract.

Operate-not-just-build: O&M experience here shapes how FKP designs maintainability into new plants.
