Executive summary

Supply and installation of temporary portable RO/EDI units supporting the Jizan Refinery 2024 shutdown — six SWRO units making utility water and one BWRO unit feeding eighteen EDI units that produce high-purity demineralized water.

FK & Partner Co. supplied and installed six SWRO units and one BWRO unit with multimedia pretreatment, antiscalant and anti-biofouling dosing, and high-pressure/booster pumps, plus 18 EDI units producing high-purity demineralized water — with all certified manpower, tools, and consumables for the shutdown.

The challenge

A planned 2024 refinery shutdown needed a temporary, fully portable supply of both utility water and high-purity demineralized water, complete with manpower and consumables, on a fixed schedule.

Engineering approach

A treatment train sequenced to the contaminants.

SWRO Desalination → BWRO Polishing → EDI Deionization

Six SWRO units desalinate to utility-water grade; one BWRO unit polishes feed for the EDI stage; 18 EDI units then deliver high-purity demineralized water — protected by multimedia pretreatment and antiscalant/anti-biofouling dosing.

Two-stage membrane + EDI: SWRO→BWRO→EDI reaches demineralized purity from seawater feed.
