King Fahad Causeway MBBR Sewage Treatment Plant — Saudi & Bahrain
The King Fahad Causeway is a sea-bridge link between Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom of Bahrain with a total length of approximately 25 km. It connects from the area south of Al-Khobar city in Saudi Arabia, to Al Jasra city in Bahrain. The causeway is managed by King Fahad Causeway Authority (KFCA), established under an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
This project involves the supply and installation of a complete Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to serve both the Saudi and Bahraini sides of the King Fahad Causeway facilities. The scope includes design, engineering, procurement, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of the MBBR system, ensuring efficient and reliable wastewater treatment performance. The plant is designed to meet the required environmental standards for both countries, provide stable biological treatment under varying loads, and ensure long-term operational sustainability for the border facilities.
IE-Consult provided complete design, engineering solution, and project management for installation and commissioning.
FK & Partner Co. was assigned by KFCA to supply, install, and commission the fully integrated MBBR STP (500 m3/day per side).
The plant meets environmental discharge standards for both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
